The Advanced Program is designed for runners who have learned
the fundamentals of running, training and racing and who are
ready for the next level. This is a technical program that goes into
greater detail on training and racing fundamentals, and uses more
tools and speed work to accomplish your goals. This program assumes
that you already have a mileage base for a half marathon. If you are new to running, are
returning to running, havent put in mileage for awhile, or do not
have a performance improvement goal, we would recommend our basic
program before graduating to the advanced training.
Boise is fortunate to have one of the best running courses in the
country The Boise Greenbelt. However, your mental and physical
conditioning can benefit from a change in running courses and
terrain. The Advanced Program will use hill runs, foothill trails,
and Greenbelt runs to vary your course and scenery.
Your training schedule
will be discussed when you meet, and also discussed in the
ONLINE Community under "Advanced
Program"
We have found that runners who have the bug like to
experiment by running some races outside of the Boise area. To
accommodate this desire, we have organized the training schedule to
target events that are organized on or near a target weekend. Our
target weekends for the winter are:
