I was born on July 4th
in Boise, Idaho, thus given the name Sparkle. My
interest in fitness and health began at the
early age of 4 when I started to train as a
ballet dancer. I studied in San Francisco and as
my dancing progressed I began touring with the
Junior Company of Ballet Idaho. My love of
ballet has been a shaping force in my life. It
directed me to the University of Utah to further
my study of the art and later on to New York
City. My husband and I have lived in Washington
DC and American Samoa. We came back to Boise 14
years ago.
The thread
of commonality that connects ballet and running
is its focus on personal best and achievement.
With each run I have the opportunity to develop
myself to a higher plane of performance. This
carries through to the rest of my life, as a
wife and mother of five there is no shortage of
challenges to address on a daily basis.
I started
running in the mornings on the treadmill in our
basement, to return to a more physically active
life. After running alone I wanted to find an
organization to run with. I found BOISE RunWalk
and have been with the program for a couple of
years. It has become a big part of my life and a
blessing. I so much enjoy the people I run
with. I have made wonderful friendships with so
many people in the group. It prepares me
mentally and physically for the things I enjoy;
camping, cross county skiing, biking and yoga.
When I am not running, I love cooking and
reading about nutrition as groundwork for
running. I look forward
to many more exciting years with BOISE RunWalk. |
