Extra
Highlights!
I’ve had so many highlights in my running life –
here are a few more:
• Running every step of my first marathon with
my husband
• Watching 2 of my daughters and son-in-law
cross the finish line of their first marathons
• Celebrating my mother-in-law’s first marathon
finish (at age 68) in Dublin, Ireland
• Cheering on team members crossing the finish
line in 3 ˝ hours, 9 ˝ hours and everything in
between
• Finishing the Leading Ladies’ Marathon in
South Dakota on a broken heel (not smart, but
exhilarating)
• Running a sub 4:00 hour marathon only to find
out that the course was a mile too long and it
didn’t count
• Running the River to River 80-mile Relay (4
times) with a great group of friends
• Running on the Chicago lakefront, the roads of
Alaska, the canyons of South Dakota
• Running the streets of New York, Honolulu,
Dublin, Quebec City, Calgary
• Running the Boise Greenbelt!
My Bio
From the South to the Midwest…and now to the
Northwest - I was born and raised in Louisiana
where I lived for 34 years, moved to Chicago for
14 years, and have been in Boise since July
2007.
I’ve taught high school English, worked as
marketing and editorial consultant for
educational publishers, and now work in graphic
and web design. Married to Mark, my elementary
school sweetheart, I have 5 kids, 1 grandson,
and Fremont, a wonderful golden retriever – only
Fremont lives with us now.
I ran my first marathon in 1996 and have run 15
marathons, one ultra marathon of 41 miles, and
the world class stair climb up the Hancock
Building in Chicago (1,632 stairs – 95 floors).
Probably the highlight of my running life, so
far, has been being a coach for the Chicago
Arthritis Foundation Joints in Motion Marathon
Training Program for 6 years. Though Joints in
Motion, I made so many great friends and helped
hundreds of people achieve their running and
walking goals.
