SLIERS Training Tips
Snapping Hip Syndrome
Tyler Jepson, PT, DPT
Emergency Department Physical
Therapist
Your outfit should be
snappy, not your hips.
Unfortunately with
marathon season underway
that is exactly what
ends up happening in
many recreational
runners. Robie Creek
anyone?
Many runners begin
feeling a snapping,
popping or sometimes a
painful sensation in
their hips whenever they
run, squat or stand up.
This is because tendons
of the hip begin to
swell and become
irritated. They swell
up and become painful
because they are
constantly rubbing
against part of the leg
bone (femur). The
swelling can eventually
become permanent if left
untreated.

Spring and
Summer Training Schedule
We know you have been waiting for the Spring and
Summer Training schedule.
Check here. Our coaches will explain this more during our
Saturday morning orientations. Of course, as always, we recommend that you check this
regularly for changes and updates. You will find it on our website,
under "Schedules." If you print this and tape it to
your refrigerator door, make sure to print a new one ever so often.
It is alive and it changes.

BOISE RunWalk /
TriBOISE needs a few good stories
We are still
looking for a couple of great writers (or even average writers - we
have editors) to send us a short testimony about how your training
has helped you and has transformed you into an amazing athlete - or
at least a more positive, healthy, fun-loving individual. We would
like to use these in our promotional material and at health/wellness
fairs that we have coming up. Just a short paragraph, or even a few
sentences will do.
So, get out our pens (keyboard) and put your thinking caps on. Send
us your story. Who knows ... there might be prizes ... Send them to
ann@boiserunwalk.com
Thanks!

Upcoming Events - Set a Goal, Get to the Starting Line, Enjoy! |
 |
We find that our
training is enhanced when we target a community event to support
and enjoy. Here are some local ones coming up soon. You might
consider entering one of these, or find one on our
"Local
Events" link from our website. We love it when you enter an
event, post a comment about it on our
Community Forum and let us know how you did. We need to
cheer and congratulate each other! |
